Testing gravity and dark energy with the large-scale distribution of galaxies: from Darklight to Euclid
Dr. Luigi Guzzo    Dipartimento di Fisica, Università di Milano

"I will review progress in the study of the large-scale structure of the Universe, focusing on the results of the “Darklight” project supported by the ERC.  These include the analysis of the VIPERS galaxy survey, which mapped of an unprecedented volume of the Universe at z=0.5-1.2.  The techniques developed in Darklight aim at enlightening the origin of cosmic acceleration, through measurements of galaxy clustering.  The growth rate of cosmic structure, in particular, is a direct diagnostic of possible deviations from General Relativity.
I will review the VIPERS results in this area. I will then present the highlights of a recent, complementary approach based on forward modelling redshift-space galaxy clustering using numerical simulations, which provides an impressive confirmation of GR on large scales.   I will then conclude discussing the implications for future ultra-precise measurements as those expected from the ESA Euclid mission".
