UNIMI hosts the 23rd ETSF Workshop: "Interdisciplinary views on quantum many-body theory"
The international workshop on electronic excitations, organized by the European Theoretical Spectroscopy Facility (ETSF) of which UNIMI is a core node, takes place from September 10 to 14, 2018.
The workshop, now at his 23rd edition, became a fundamental reference for the scientific community working on electronic excitations in condensed matter. It will be a forum for discussions on electronic excitations and corresponding spectroscopies in physics of matter, chemistry, nanoscience, and materials science.
This event is directed toward theoreticians and software/algorithm developers, but also to experimental physicists who wish to obtain a state-of-the-art view on the developments of theoretical models and computational techniques needed to the interpretation of increasingly complex experiments.
The 2018 edition aims at fostering the cross-fertilization between different approaches to many-body phenomena, transcending the traditional barriers between disciplines. The workshop will therefore bring together experts facing similar problems from different perspectives, for different applications, and often with a different language. Besides discussing application of many-body theories to excitations in condensed matter, i.e. the traditional field of expertise of ETSF, topics covered by the workshop will include nuclear physics, quantum chemistry, ultrafast excitation dynamics, quantum transport, topological insulators and novel algorithmic approaches to many-body problems inspired by machine learning and data science.
Abstract submission for oral and poster contributions is open until June 1st, 2018.
