Open quantum systems
- Brief description
-
The realistic treatment of a quantum system often requires to consider its interaction with the external environment. For such a system, called "open", the dynamics is usually irreversible, and shows new effects with resepect to mere unitary evolution, such as memory and quantum decoherence. New theoretical paradigms and effective descriptions are developed for fundamental experiments and applications in atomic optics, quantum optics, physics of matter, phisical chemistry.
